Every clipper and UGC creator, on every campaign

These are the rules every Clipugo clipper and UGC creator follows, on every video and every campaign. They protect the brands and creators who pay for real views and honest videos, and everyone who earns their pay fairly. They're part of our Terms of Service, and each campaign can add rules of its own.

The short version:

  • Follow every campaign rule, and every line of the brief.
  • Clippers use only the campaign's source content. UGC creators use only footage they shot themselves.
  • Make your own work. Never pass off someone else's clip or video as yours.
  • Real views and honest reviews only. No bots, bought views, fake reviews or engagement tricks.
  • Label paid content wherever the law or the platform requires it.
  • Keep posted videos public and up for as long as the campaign asks.

Content rules

Every clip and UGC video you submit must:

  • Follow every campaign rule. Length, style, captions, required tags or links, allowed platforms and anything marked off limits. If a rule is unclear, ask before you post.
  • Be your own work. Make your own edits and shoot your own footage. Submitting someone else's clip or video, or a lightly changed copy of one, is never allowed.
  • Respect the platform. Follow the community guidelines and terms of every platform you post on.
  • Credit and tag as asked. Credit the brand or creator, tag accounts and add links exactly as the campaign requires.

Never post or submit content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent or illegal, or that exposes anyone's private information, even if a moment in the source content could be cut that way.

Rules for clippers

Clippers cut short clips from a campaign's source content and post them on their own accounts. On top of the content rules, every clip must:

  • Use only the campaign's source content. Don't mix in footage, audio or images from other creators, shows or brands unless the campaign rules allow it.
  • Be a real edit. Find the moment, then cut, caption and frame it yourself. A straight reupload of a long segment isn't a clip.
  • Represent the creator fairly. No misleading hooks, invented quotes, or captions and cuts that change the meaning of what someone said. Don't present your account as the creator's official account unless the campaign says you can.

Rules for UGC creators

UGC creators film new videos around a brand's product, like demos, reviews, unboxings and how-tos. On top of the content rules, every UGC video must:

  • Use only original footage you shot. Film it yourself, for this campaign. No stock footage, no clips from other creators and no videos made for another brand, unless the brief says otherwise.
  • Follow the brief. Make the kind of video it asks for, cover the points it lists, and stick to its rules on length, format, music and anything off limits. If something is unclear, ask before you film.
  • Make honest product claims. Only say what's true about the product, and only describe what you actually experienced. Don't exaggerate what it does or invent results, and don't make health, money or safety claims unless the brief includes them and the brand can back them up.
  • Never fake a review or testimonial. Don't review a product you haven't used, pose as an ordinary customer with no connection to the brand, or present a scripted story as something that really happened to you.
  • Disclose paid content. If you post a campaign video on your own accounts, label it as paid wherever the law or the platform requires. See Disclosing paid content.
  • Get permission from anyone on camera. Everyone else who appears in your video must agree to it being used. Don't film children unless the brief allows it and a parent or guardian has agreed.

No fake views or botting

Brands and creators pay for real people watching. Fake views take money from them and from every clipper and UGC creator who earns honestly, so we treat them as the most serious violation on Clipugo.

Never use, buy or arrange:

  • bots, scripts or other automated tools that generate views, likes, comments, shares or follows;
  • purchased views, likes, followers or other engagement, from any service or person;
  • view farms, click farms or device farms;
  • engagement pods, follow-for-follow groups or view-for-view exchanges;
  • fake, bought, rented or hijacked accounts, whether to post videos or to boost them;
  • artificial loops, auto-refresh or embeds that play videos without people choosing to watch;
  • incentivized views, such as paying, rewarding or pressuring people to watch, like or share; or
  • paid ads or boosts on campaign videos, unless the campaign rules allow them.

The ban applies whether you do it yourself or someone does it for you.

If we find fake views:

  • they're removed and never paid;
  • payouts on the affected videos are withheld while we investigate, and payouts already made can be reversed or recovered where we find fraud;
  • the video can be removed from the campaign; and
  • your account can be suspended or permanently banned, along with any accounts linked to it.

If a video of yours gets a sudden spike you didn't cause, tell us at mail@clipugo.com. Reporting it early helps us tell the difference.

Disclosing paid content

When you're paid to post a clip or a UGC video, it's usually advertising, and in many countries the law requires you to make that clear to viewers.

  • Use the platform's tools. Turn on the platform's paid partnership or branded content label where it offers one, such as Instagram's paid partnership label, TikTok's content disclosure setting or YouTube's paid promotion setting.
  • Add a clear tag. Use words people understand, like #ad or #sponsored. Vague tags such as #sp, #collab or #thanks aren't enough.
  • Keep it visible. Put the disclosure where viewers see it without tapping "more": early in the caption or on screen. Don't bury it in a pile of hashtags.
  • Follow the rules where you and your audience are. In the US, see the FTC's Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers (opens in a new tab). In the UK, see the ASA and CMA's Influencers' guide to making clear that ads are ads (opens in a new tab). Elsewhere, check your local advertising and consumer protection rules.
  • Use the campaign's wording if the rules or the brief ask for a specific disclosure.

This is general guidance, not legal advice. You're responsible for meeting the disclosure rules that apply to you.

Account standards

  • Post from your own accounts. When a campaign asks you to post, use accounts you own or control, on the platforms it allows, and keep them in good standing.
  • Keep posted videos public. They must be public so real viewers can find them and we can verify the views. Private, friends-only or restricted posts don't count.
  • Keep them up. Leave each posted video public and unchanged for as long as its campaign requires. Taking a clip down early can stop it earning and may break the campaign's rules.
  • Be who you say you are. Your Clipugo account and the social accounts you link must be yours. Don't share your account or let anyone else submit work for you.
  • Meet campaign requirements. Some campaigns set extra requirements, such as specific platforms or niches. You'll see them before you join.

Reviews and enforcement

How reviews work. Every clip and UGC video is checked against its campaign's rules and these guidelines, by whoever runs the campaign or by our team, depending on the campaign. Views on posted videos go through automated checks for signs of fake engagement, and our team can review anything flagged. Clips that pass earn at the campaign rate, and approved UGC videos are paid on the terms in the brief. If your work is rejected, we'll tell you which rule it broke.

What we can do. Depending on how serious a problem is, and whether it has happened before, we may:

  • ask you to fix a video, if it can be fixed;
  • reject a video or remove it from a campaign;
  • remove views that fail verification;
  • withhold, reverse or recover payouts tied to the problem;
  • remove you from a campaign or limit which campaigns you can join; or
  • suspend or permanently ban your account.

Fake views, fake reviews, impersonation and passing off someone else's clip or footage as your own can lead to a permanent ban on the first offense.

Appeals

If you think we got a decision wrong, whether it's a rejected clip or video, removed views, a withheld payout or an account action, email mail@clipugo.com from the address you use with Clipugo. Include:

  • the campaign, and a link to the clip or video;
  • the decision you're appealing; and
  • why you think it's wrong, with anything that helps, like screenshots of the video's analytics.

A person on our team will review your appeal and tell you the outcome. If we got it wrong, we'll restore the video, the views or the payout. Our decision on an appeal is final for that campaign.

Reporting a problem

Help us keep campaigns fair. Email mail@clipugo.com if you see:

  • a video with fake views or engagement;
  • a fake review or testimonial in a campaign video;
  • someone passing off your clip or video, or anyone else's, as their own;
  • an account pretending to be a brand, a creator, a clipper, a UGC creator or Clipugo; or
  • a campaign rule or brief that's unclear, or that would make you break a platform's rules or the law.

Include links and as much detail as you can. We review every report, and we won't tell the person you reported who you are unless the law requires it. Account and payout problems go to the same address, or you can use our contact page.

Changes and questions

We update these guidelines as platforms, laws and campaigns change, and we'll tell clippers and UGC creators about significant changes before they take effect. How we handle your personal information is covered in our Privacy Policy.
