This policy explains what personal information Clipugo collects when you visit our website, apply to join as a clipper or UGC creator, run a campaign or sign up for our newsletter, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Clipugo ("we", "us" or "our") runs the Clipugo website at clipugo.com and the services described in our Terms of Service (together, the "Service"). We are the controller of the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it's used.

Questions about this policy or your information go to mail@clipugo.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. If you open an account: your name, email address, country and account credentials, and for brands and creators, your channel, company or brand.
  • Campaign details. For brands and creators, the source content, product details, briefs, budgets, pay, rules and review decisions for your campaigns.
  • Messages. Anything you write when you email us or contact support.

The forms on our website collect:

Contact and demo requestsYour name and email, your role (brand, creator, clipper or UGC creator) and your message, plus your channel or company and monthly budget range if you're a brand or creator
Application to joinYour name, email and country, whether you make clips, UGC or both, the kinds of UGC you make, the platforms you post on, your account handles, your niches, links to past clips or videos, your experience level, and your agreement to our terms
NewsletterYour email address

Information from your videos and social accounts

When you work on a campaign, we collect the links and videos you submit, and public information about posted videos and the accounts that post them: handles, posting dates, and views, likes, comments and shares over time. When we review an application, we may also look at public account details such as follower counts. We get this from the platforms or their public pages, and use it to verify views, detect fake engagement and calculate earnings.

UGC videos often show the creator's face and voice. We store the videos you submit for a campaign, share them with the brand or creator running it, and use them to review your work against the brief.

Payment and payout information

Payment details brands and creators use to fund campaigns, and payout details clippers and UGC creators use to get paid, such as bank or payment account information, are collected and processed by our payment providers. We receive what we need to run payments, such as whether a payment or payout went through, plus any tax information we're required to keep.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the website or use the Service, our servers and hosting providers receive technical information your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and when. We use it to deliver pages, keep the Service secure and fix problems.

Cookies and analytics

The Clipugo website doesn't use third-party analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't track you across other websites.

If you use a part of the Service that needs an account, it may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for it to work, such as keeping your session secure. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but those parts of the Service may not work without them.

If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we'll update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before using them.

How we use information

We use personal information only for the purposes below. If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, data protection law requires a legal basis for each purpose, which is listed next to it.

Our checks for fake views are partly automated. If a decision affects your earnings or your account, you can ask a person on our team to review it, as described in the Clipper & UGC Creator Guidelines.

How we share information

We don't sell personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • With brands and creators, for their campaigns. When you work on a campaign, the brand or creator running it can see your public handles, the clips or videos you submit, how they perform and the review decisions on them. For UGC campaigns, that includes the videos themselves, which may show your face and voice.
  • With service providers. Companies that host the website and the Service, store data, send email and provide support tools for us. They may use the information only to provide those services.
  • With form processors. Submissions from our website forms go to the form processing service we use to receive and store them on our behalf.
  • With payment providers. We share the details needed to make each payout or collect each payment. Payment providers handle payment details under their own privacy policies.
  • For legal reasons. When the law requires it, in response to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or Clipugo, including to investigate fraud.
  • In a business transfer. If Clipugo is part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may pass to the new owner, who must keep protecting it as this policy describes.

International transfers

We and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the one you live in, which may have different data protection laws. When we transfer personal information out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on an adequacy decision or use safeguards the law recognizes, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including running accounts and campaigns, paying clippers and UGC creators, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations. In practice:

  • Accounts: while your account is open, then only as long as we need them for the reasons above.
  • Applications from clippers and UGC creators that don't lead to an account: long enough to handle the application and any follow-up questions.
  • Payment and payout records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or anonymize it so it can't be linked back to you.

Security

We protect personal information with technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls that limit who can see it, and careful choice of service providers. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.

Your rights and choices

Everyone

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue, and, if you have an account, close it by emailing mail@clipugo.com.

EEA and UK

If you're in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to:

  • access your personal information and get a copy of it;
  • correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete;
  • have your information deleted;
  • restrict how we use it;
  • receive information you gave us in a portable format;
  • object to our use of it based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or the authority in the EEA country where you live or work. We'd appreciate the chance to sort out your concern first.

California

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy of it;
  • delete personal information we collected from you;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information; and
  • not be treated differently for using these rights.

We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use sensitive personal information in ways that give you a right to limit it. You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you.

How to make a request

Email mail@clipugo.com from the address you use with Clipugo, or tell us which address to search for. We'll verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within the time the law requires. We won't charge a fee unless the law allows it.

Children

Clipugo is for adults. Anyone who runs a campaign, or joins as a clipper or UGC creator, must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where they live if that's higher. The website isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that someone under 18 has applied or opened an account, we'll close it and delete their information unless the law requires us to keep it. If you think a child has given us personal information, email mail@clipugo.com.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices change or the law requires it, and change the "Last updated" date on this page. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email before it takes effect.
